STV will provide quality assurance, engineering, and administrative support throughout the procurement process.

Metra has selected STV to provide procurement support for an order of battery-powered trainsets. The contract, valued at $154 million, covers eight two-car trainsets as part of a transition toward alternative propulsion technologies in commuter rail.

The trainsets will have a seating capacity of 112 passengers per two-car unit, with additional trailer cars accommodating 46 passengers. The design includes low-level boarding and lifts for ADA compliance, along with onboard features such as information displays, bike racks, luggage storage, and USB charging ports.
