Stadler’s Class 99 locomotive undergoes testing at VUZ Velim testing circuit

The locomotive, manufactured at Stadler’s Valencia plant, will undergo various trials as part of its preparation before entering service in the United Kingdom.

The first Stadler Class 99 (99001) bi-mode Co’Co’ locomotive has arrived at the VUZ Velim test centre in the Czech Republic for testing and commissioning.

This series of locomotives has been manufactured for Beacon Rail Leasing and GB Railfreight. The production run includes 30 units. The Class 99 is made in bi-mode configuration, allowing it to operate using both electric and diesel power.

Following the completion of testing at Velim, the locomotive will be delivered to GB Railfreight as its operator in the UK.
